Level Design:

  • Here are some images from the team's level design documents. The first image is a Level Key that documents symbols for various objects in the game. This made it so that every member of the team could understand what was going on in each level and what objects were placed where. The second image was the rough draft used to make the first level of the game. Through development, the layout of the level has changed and you can see that in the third image. It is important to note that the third image is the layout of the level only using placeholder shapes. I highly recommend playing the game when it releases this Friday!! We would show some more designs, but we found it in our best interest not to spoil any of the other levels so that you can enjoy solving the puzzles without having prior knowledge on them. Just be ready for the levels to become more complex the more you play!! The first few levels of the game are designed to teach and demonstrate each mechanic that exists in the game. We found that it would be better to teach a mechanic or two at a time rather than through the player into the fire and have them just figure it out. There are quite a few things to understand before getting to the real puzzles. We hope you enjoy the challenge once you advance far enough. There certainly is a lot to consider when solving each puzzle.

Reminder:

  • Don't forget to check out the Florida Poly Game Expo livestream on Friday November 20th! Our game will also be releasing on this day! We'd really appreciate it if you supported us and by voting for our game and supporting Florida Poly by tuning into the stream!
